Scott Peavey resigned as the head football coach at Madison County in June. He spent the past seven seasons at the school with a record of 46-34 and 6-4 in the playoffs. His 2012 squad won a region championship.

Peavey previously coached Ashville in 2005 and Walter Wellborn from 1999-2001. He is 68-55 overall and 6-7 in the playoffs during his career. Peavey has accepted an offer to become an assistant coach at Oxford.

The Madison County Tigers will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2016 season. The Tigers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region seven this year. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 4A. Their opponents had a combined record of 72-41 last season. That ranks 3rd in Class 4A and 14th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Etowah on Friday, August 26 at Jim Glover Field. Last year the Etowah Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 5A region seven.
